Read “What to Do if You Miss Tablets/Capsules” in the Patient Information Leaflet if you experience vomiting or diarrhoea within 4 hours after taking your medication. Because vomiting or diarrhoea can prevent the medicine from working, proceed according to the directions as though you missed your dose.
Twenty-four pills in your pill box contain the active ingredient. It also includes 4 iron-fortified reminder pills. Take one hormone-containing active tablet once daily for 24 straight days. If your doctor hasn’t instructed you otherwise, take one inactive pill (with iron) once daily for four days straight after you’ve taken the last active pill. Within three days of the previous active medication, you should start getting your period in the fourth week of the pack. Even if your period is still coming or you don’t have one, create a new group the next day after you’ve finished the last iron pill in the current one. Consult your doctor if you don’t get your period.
Ask your doctor if you should throw away the reminder pills (iron pills) each day rather than swallowing them if you take any medications that may interfere with iron, such as levodopa, levothyroxine, penicillamine, tetracyclines, and quinolones like ciprofloxacin. These drugs’ effects may stay diminished by iron.
