Physical activity can lower your risk of evolving type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Metabolic syndrome is a combination of too much fat about the waist, high triglycerides, high blood pressure, low high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, or high blood sugar. People begin to see the benefits of physical activity, even if they don’t meet the recommended 150 minutes of modest physical activity per week. Additional amounts of physical activity seem to reduce the risk even more.
Some Cancers
Being physically active lowers your risk of developing several common cancers. Adults who participate in more significant amounts of physical activity have reduced chances of developing cancers of the:
- Bladder
- Breast
- Colon (proximal and distal)
- Endometrium
- Esophagus (adenocarcinoma)
- Kidney
- Lung
- Stomach (cardia and non-cardia adenocarcinoma)
